As promised, on April 16th 2024 I spoke before the Arcadia City Council and explained to them the urgent need for a Sound Wall at the 2nd Avenue overpass. I provided them with images of the neighborhood and well as over 50 emails from nearby residents asking for their support, ( thank you to all of you Arcadia residents that took the time to send a message to the City Council).
It was at that time that I requested that the City Council send a letter to Caltrans and request that they add the 2nd avenue overpass as part of the project.
When I spoke to the City Council and presented your emails, they seemed generally surprised that Caltrans did not include the 2nd avenue overpass in their initial project. The City Council agreed that the matter needed to be studied and voted to put the discussion on the agenda for July, which would allow the City Staff to study that matter and compose a letter to Caltrans.
On May 21, 2024 the Arcadia City Council resumed the discussion of the proposed letter to Caltrans. After several questions to the City Manager regarding the timeline of the project, the City Council UNANIMOUSLY agreed to send the request to Caltrans!
Now that Caltrans has been notified that the Arcadia City Council is requesting the 2nd avenue Sound Wall be built, the most important thing now is not to "take our foot off the accelerator". In other words, the City Council needs to constantly remind Caltrans of the importance of getting this project started.
It is my intention to be that constant reminder to Caltrans of how important this project is to the residents of Arcadia and to continue to send letter to them, asking them for updates and progress reports, specifically asking when the project can be started and when it can be expect to be completed.
